Spotted: True Temper Dynamic Gold 120 shafts

Published

on

We spotted new iron shafts from True Temper, called Dynamic Gold 120, on the range of the 2017 Honda Classic on Monday. The number “120” refers to the weight of the shafts, making them lighter than the company’s line of Dynamic Gold shafts (for comparison, check out those specs here).

In an Instagram post, the company confirmed that the shafts are designed to produce the same launch and spin as the company’s ever-popular Dynamic Gold shafts, but are built to be lighter for those players who desire that feel.

As a reminder, the graphic below from True Temper’s website shows for whom the Dynamic Gold shafts are designed.

Don’t they have a DG SL in their lineup? Or is this an inbetween model?

Meh. KBS, Nippon and Project X have already done lightweight “tour” shafts. Call me when they release a DG150.

The labeling graphics are totally obnoxious. Horrendous. Hideous. They should have kept with the small, stylish label like all their other DG shafts, but just updated.

Sweet…do you hit equipment for how it looks or how it preforms and feels???

Duh. This is WRX. Who the hell cares about performance? It’s all about the looks! Otherwise we wouldn’t even have this website. If looks didn’t matter we wouldn’t need this site for photos. Duh

Some are just sticker labels you can peel off.

They need to do this, but also offer them as ascending weight just as the AMT are.

KBS beat them to the punch on this one.

However, KBS is a totally different flex pattern though. I like the KBS 120 but for me it is a little more difficult to control than the standard dynamic gold S300.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
