GolfWRXers Discuss: High launching stable iron shafts
In our forums, our members have been discussing high launching stable iron shafts. WRXer ‘Threewoodteeba’ is looking for a shaft to fit the bill, saying:
“Looking for some help on selecting the shaft. I’m currently playing the AMT red stiff flex on the 2025 Titleist T350 irons. I’m looking for a shaft that’s a bit heavier for stability but has more feel. I swing the driver 95-100 mph to give a sense of my SS.
I’m looking for a shaft that I can feel load at the top and will kick at impact. I’ve considered the modus 105, dynamic gold 105 and the AMT black. Definitely want to keep a high launch too. Is there a shaft that fits the bill? I’m open to suggestions including dropping down to a softer flex.”
And our members have been weighing in with their suggestions in response.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- Golf64: “Got fit for TT DG Mid 100. I need height and spin, but have a left miss. Need heavier to fix the lefts. These fit the bill for me.”
- SBH9458: “Modus… plenty of options for feel, launch and stiffness. Try a few if you can and you’ll likely find what you’re after.”
- Urb: “C Taper Lite is the highest launching, stable shaft out there. Anything launching higher will feel way looser.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

S300. And get traditional, higher lofted irons, where the PW is 47 or 48, and the other irons correspond, quit using modern fast-ball sending loft-jacked heads
