Brooks Koepka makes significant ball change at Cognizant Classic
Brooks Koepka’s struggles since returning to the PGA Tour have had much to do with his form, or lack thereof, on the greens.
Through two events in 2026, Koepka ranks 171st of 172 players for Strokes Gained: Putting, and things weren’t much better in round one of the Cognizant Classic on Thursday, with the 5-time major champ losing over two strokes to the field with the flatstick.
The 35-year-old made a significant change earlier this month when he ditched his longtime trusty Scotty Cameron blade for a TaylorMade Spider mallet, and this week Brooks has made big equipment change that has gone under the radar.
On Thursday, we noticed that Koepka no longer had his typical Srixon Z-Star Diamond ball in-play, instead opting for what appeared to be a Titleist Pro V1x with the branding marked out.

Brooks is currently making headway on Friday at the Cognizant Classic, and through six holes, the Florida native has picked up over 2 strokes on the greens over the field.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

IMO Brooks is trying whatever to try and get his game where he thinks it should be. Left LIV (he won once), changed putter, changed his ball…next will be his apparel or shoes. Lol

I was shocked the diamond is what they made for him in the first place. XV seems like the logical choice

Odd because the Z-Star XV is very similar. Surprised Srixon couldn’t get him to try it.
