What driver and fairway are you gaming this year? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing their driver and fairway setup for 2021. WRXer ‘Boycer’ wants to know if people are opting for new drivers or sticking with the old faithful, and our members have been sharing their strategy for 2021 in our forums.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- Hattie Pants: “Switched away from Titleist for the first time since 910 days. G425 LST 9* aftermarket 7g weight in the back + 6g hotmelt. Tensei Pro Orange 44.5” stiff. G425 Max 14.5* aftermarket 4g weight in the back + 6g hotmelt. Tensei Pro Orange stiff standard length.”
- PEI_Golfer: “10* TSi3 A1 setting (currently), BB6X in it now but have an AV Blue Raw 65 TX coming in about a week to try out against it. Plays 44.5″. 16.5* TS2 C1 setting, with the stock EFW T1100 in stiff that just seems to work. Will be trying to get my hands on a Ventus Blue 7X to try out in it later. Plays 42.5″.”
- steventoo: “This year: TSi3 9* with a HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX (longest name ever) 60/6.5, U510 1 iron (16*) with a Ventus Blue 9X (I love this), 3 iron, 4, etc… Last year: TS2 9.5* with EvenFlow White 60/6.5 U510 1 iron (16*) with HZRDUS Smoke Black 80/6.0 (I hated this). I haven’t carried a 3 or 5 wood for years… I’ve never been a hybrid person either. I really like the utility approach with the right shaft set up. I haven’t totally gelled with the TSi3, but I won it, so why not? Still have the TS2.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
