Forum Thread of the Day: “Miura MC 501 Blades – Best looking clubs ever?”
Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from psgolf23, who has fallen hard for the aesthetics of Miura’s MC 501 blades and asked fellow GolfWRX members for any insight into the performance of the irons. While pretty much all agreeing to a man about the beauty of the clubs, some of our members were able to provide some detailed feedback on the performance of the blades, as well as some great photos.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- bfizzy: “Just got my set from Peoples, and he is awesome to work with. The irons are awesome, I’m coming from P750s, and these things are butter compared to that. They aren’t Uber soft, but you definitely get a lot more feedback from them. Clean setup with a tad more aggressive offset progression from PW down to the long irons. To be fair I was fit into the irons, so they suit me, but I don’t think one would be disappointed with these in the bag.”
- swanry30: “Very limited time with my raw mc-501…they don’t/won’t disappoint. Hands down best irons i’ve owned (which is saying something given how many specialized sets over the years). Dispersion is crazy good.”
- CrazyCoolie: “I got a set about a month ago. But with winter I have only been able to hit them on a trackman indoors. SO far they are amazing. I know this has been pointed out numerous times, but my dispersion is so tight with these irons. Going to FL for a week after xmas and cannot wait to get them out on the course.”
- ghoonk: “I game the MC501 with black TT AMT White shafts – surprisingly forgiving (compared to my MB-5003, which are larger heads, IMO). Butter soft on good hits, and I love the thin top line. The chunky top line of the P790 made it a no-go for me. I’m currently eyeing a set of Honma Tour World blades which are as good as, if not better than these.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

No. The shape from the top lines aren’t as clean as some other blades, these are more offset than others.
The TM TP MB Smoke and not Smoke (that Martin Kaymer played for years) are the best looking irons ever. These Miuras are a poor replica with the similar pointed middle muscle

The beauty of these clubs is breathtaking to the max. I fell in love with their look and immediately bought a set (3-PW) and took them to bed with me. My life has meaning now that I have found the clubs for a lifetime of soft buttery pleasure. 😀
