Puma’s new PWR Adapt and Suede G shoes (2018 PGA Show Day 2)
With all of the controversy surrounding Rickie Fowler’s untucked Hawaiian-inspired shirt at the 2018 Tournament of Champions, you may have missed what was on his feet. Here’s a better look…

Those are versions of Puma’s new PWR Adapt shoes that have spikes that act independently for greater traction. The cleats are actually set into the midsole of the shoe, and they sit in receptacles, or PWR Adapt “pods” that allow them to grab the ground separately from one another. They also depress into the shoe when you walk for additional comfort, according to Puma.
They have full-length polyurethane midsoles, water proof mesh uppers and a PWR Shell made from thermoplastic urethane (TPU) for added stability. They are set sell on February 1 for $150 in three colorways; Quiet Shade, Peacoat and Gray Violet/White.
Along with the laced PWR Adapt shoes, there’s also a PWR Adapt Disc offering that has a proprietary disc-closure system, and a PWR Adapt Leather shoe.
Puma also displayed new Ignite PWR Sport shoes that the company released on December 15 that are available in four colorways (Quiet Shade/Black, Quarry/White, Black/Silver, Peacoat/Silver and Peacoat/Camo). They are selling for $120.
Puma also displayed its new Suede G shoes that are part of a 50th Anniversary, 50-shoe collection from the company that features all sorts of special releases and collaborations, such as Barbie, N.E.R.D. and “B-Boy.” The releases will occur throughout the year, and these golf versions, which have a microtraction spikeless sole, release on May 15 for $100. They come in men’s and women’s versions — the women’s shoe have purple ribbon laces.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
