Spotted: Bettinardi Antidote “Model 2” tour prototype

Published

on

We spotted a new “Antidote Model 2” tour prototype putter from Bettinardi at the 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Tuesday.

Sam Bettinardi, Vice President of Bettinardi Golf, calls the putter an Antidote Model 2 and says the back weights — they’re milled from aluminum, stainless steel and copper, and they’re adjustable to make the putter weigh 340, 350 or 360 — are strategically positioned on the rear heel and toe to increase MOI (moment of inertia, a measure of forgiveness). The weights are also positioned “equal with or above the equator of the golf ball” to raise the center of gravity.

“(Bob Bettinardi) knew there would be players that wouldn’t find the design the most appealing, however, he feels that this is one of his more technologically sound designs he has produced,” Bettinardi says.

According to Bettinardi, we can expect to see more designs with the “Antidote technology” later this fall.

How can you make that accusation without explaining in detail how you came to that conclusion? Perhaps it’s you who is the bigoted race-baiting hater and you are misleading the forum. You and your other forum names.

I do think the technology here is sound. The looks are a bit on the harsh side. But I think they could refine it, maybe decrease the overall size about 10%, then add a slant neck or something.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
