AeroTech launches TiFiber driver shafts on Tour
Before AeroTech SteelFiber shafts became popular on the PGA Tour, the best golfers in the world almost exclusively used all-steel iron shafts. The SteelFiber shafts, made of graphite composite with a surface layer of steel, changed that. Big-name players like Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker began using the SteelFiber shafts, leading to more PGA Tour players and regular golfers trying (and liking) them.

Now, AeroTech has developed a driver shaft that’s made with graphite composite and has a full layer of titanium fiber on the perimeter. The shafts are called “TiFiber,” and we spotted them this week at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
According to Chris Hilleary, President of AeroTech Golf Shafts, the layer of titanium adds hoop-strength stability and keeps the shafts from deforming during the swing and into impact. The result is a lower-spinning trajectory that creates a more penetrating ball flight.
On Tour, we spotted AeroTech’s new TiFiber “Tour 70” shaft that’s designed for higher swing speeds in F5 (Stiff) and F6 (X-Stiff) flex options. Hilleary says another TiFiber shaft is in the works: a Pro 60 shaft that’s slightly softer. He says it will benefit those who need a bit more launch and spin, but still want the added stability that titanium provides. While both the Pro 60 and Pro 70 are driver shafts, Hilleary says they can be cut down and turned into fairway wood shafts.
The TiFiber shafts ($395 each) will be available for purchase starting in January 2018, Also, be on the lookout our for an exclusive giveaway of the shafts in our GolfWRX forums in the coming weeks!

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
