Sergio Garcia switches to SuperStroke club grips
Sergio Garcia is using a set of custom SuperStroke club grips at the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay.
Garcia, the No. 8-ranked golfer in the world, has been a long-time user of the company’s putter grips and is the highest-profile player to put the company’s club grips in play. Garcia also used the grips at the European Tour’s Irish Open three weeks ago.

SuperStroke’s TX1 Tour Extreme grips ($10.99) are available in five colors (black/white, blue/white, grey/white, lime/white, red/white) and have a half-cord design. Garcia’s SuperStroke club grips have the same cross-traction pattern as the TX1 grips, but have a non-cord design and are solid gray in color.
According to a SuperStroke representative, Garcia’s grips have a 0.58-inch core (round) and are installed with one wrap of grip tape, logo down.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Sergio changed his grips? Wow. Zak, maybe you should move out of your parents house, then care about grips

Kind of clever on Superstroke’s part, but something I could see being a bit annoying to golfers. Even though Sergio’s grips are installed “logo down,” there’s STILL a slightly smaller SS logo on the other side. THERE’S NOWHERE TO RUN!!!

I put one on my 3 wood to try it out and it felt really good, it has a nice firm grip so I don’t lose the club at the top. Without a glove on I was not sure I would like it but with a glove it has good feel and tack. my only knock would be that the bottom of the grip is white and will get quite dirty quickly as it did at the range, mind you it was a little soft due to recent rain but still it does seem to get dirty.

Really great grips. Just put them on my clubs. They don’t feel as “hard” or as tough as the NDMC.
