Titleist adds GT1 3Tour fairway to GT lineup
Today, Titleist has introduced the GT1 3Tour fairway wood, a new addition to its GT metalwood lineup, built specifically for players who prefer a shallow-profile 3-wood with higher launch and a stronger ball flight.
As a refresher, the current GT fairway lineup includes GT1, GT2, and GT3 fairway woods, as well as the GT280 mini driver.
Featuring a 14.5-degree loft and a lower center of gravity thanks to advanced multi-material construction, the GT1 3Tour delivers reduced spin while maintaining exceptional stability and turf interaction.
“Tour feedback is incredibly valuable, so we involve our players in testing for all products — even those that may be designed with a different player in mind,” said JJ Van Wezenbeeck, Titleist’s Senior Director of Club Promotions. “During GT1 fairway testing, we found some tour players really loved the shaping and face height, but we knew that many of them would need a little less loft and lower CG for a stronger flight…GT1 3Tour gave us all the benefits of the GT1 shaping while lowering spin to a more optimal window for those players.”

The club has already seen action on the PGA Tour in the bags of Titleist ambassadors Doug Ghim and Cameron Davis, who favor the 3Tour’s easy launch and lower spin characteristics, Titleist says.
The GT1 3Tour features Titleist’s Seamless Thermoform Crown made from ultra-lightweight Matrix Polymer, allowing engineers to reposition mass for optimal launch conditions. It also includes adjustable fore/aft weighting to fine-tune launch and spin, as well as a redesigned internal hosel that further enhances weight distribution.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
