Two new Scotty Cameron putters begin Tour seeding at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open
Now on Tour in 2022 are Scotty Cameron’s new lineup of Phantom X putters, with two models debuting this week at TPC Scottsdale.
The new Phantom X 9 and 9.5 tour prototypes are now available to players for the first time this week at the WM Phoenix Open, and we’ll be keeping an eye on who puts the new additions in their bags for tournament play today.
The putters are the latest Scotty’s to begin tour seeding, with the new Phantom X 7 and 7.5 tour prototypes, in addition to a tour-only 7.2 model, also now on tour, following their debut at the recent Sony Open in Hawaii.
Two weeks ago at PGA West, Hudson Swafford became the first player to win using a 2022 Scotty Cameron Phantom X model, having put the new Phantom X 7.5 in play for the first time at the American Express.
Speaking on Swafford’s success with the flat-stick, Scotty Cameron Tour Rep Drew Page said
“The first time he put it down, the putter just set up perfect for him. He was really impressed how it sat on the ground, and thought it looked great. It’s been the same story for many players who’ve put Phantoms in play. ‘Man, this thing sets on the ground perfect. I really like the way it looks.’ He rolled a few putts with it on Tuesday, I just threw his grip on and it went into play.”

Having put the Phantom X 7.5 in play for the first time that Thursday, Swafford finished the week second in Strokes Gained: Putting (+6.402), averaging 1.577 putts per green in regulation.

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.
“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
