How many brands are in your bag? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing the number of different brands currently in their bag. WRXer ‘tangojay’ kicks off the thread with his setup:
“Driver: Cobra F-8 (just switched from Callaway XR-16). 3 & 5 woods: Callaway XR-16. 4 Hybrid: Cleveland Mashie. 5-SW : PING G-700. Lob Wedge: Cleveland CG-15. Putter: Byron Experimental. Ball: Kirkland 3-Piece. Bag: Bag-Boy”
And our members have been sharing the different brands that have made it into their bag in our forums.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- dbdors: “5, Callaway, TM, Tour Edge, Cleveland and Titleist (SC). But putters vary between the SC, Evnroll or PXG.”
- laztjc4: “Up to 6. Mizuno driver, Cobra 3wood, Callaway hybrid and lob wedge, Hogan irons, Ping gap and sand wedge, Titleist SC putter.”
- ChipNRun: “It’s a battle between Callaway and Tour Edge (see FWs for how tight it is). My putter is mostly Ping for the past 15 years, be it an early Ping Pal, a 2011 version of the B60 or my Sigma G Tyne. Only break was a two-year jaunt with a Slotline SL-583F. Cobra has held down the hybrid slots for several years. And I must confess, the Cobra FlyZ Driver and 3-4W felt awfully good then I tried them.”
- shortgame85: “I started with an all Callaway setup. Then Titleist, then mixed. Today, I carry mostly Ping, two Callaway fairway woods, Titleist wedge and putter.”
- belephant: “6. PING driver, Titleist hybrids, Mizuno irons, Callaway wedges, Bettinardi putter, Bridgestone ball.”
- AUTIGER07: “It’s 3 or 4 depending on the putter I go with. 3 – Titleist / Mizuno / Nike. If I go with the Black Lab that day, it’s 4.”
- AllSkillz15: “8. Driver- Callaway Epic Flash. 5 Wood- Cobra F9. 4 hybrid- Ping G410. 5 hybrid- Taylormade M4. 5i-PW- Mizuno HMB. 52*- Titleist SM7. 60*- Taylormade HT BF. 64*- Cleveland RTX-4. Putter- Directed Force 2.1. Bag- Sun Mountain.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
