Forum Thread of the Day: “Pro V1 vs Chrome Soft”

- Broke100: “I’m pretty sure that I lose Chrome Soft more slowly. From what I can tell, they feel better/softer. I’m a high handicap golfer.”
- Pepperturbo: “Chrome Soft feels nice, but it compresses too much for me, ProV not as much. So, between the two I’ll stick with ProV as the ball I usually play when it’s cold outside or in inclement weather. Otherwise, my first love is ProV1x.”
- craz-e: “I could play either. They are both excellent balls. Chrome Soft a little softer. I read the reviews on the Chrome Soft and its issues with QC which put me off them but after receiving another dozen as a gift and giving them a try have had no issues. The price is good too!”
- Hougz79: “I’d go PV1 all day every day. The best thing about CS/CSX is the Truvis. I actually really like the pattern. I have tried to like the ball and never really got it to work. PV1, Tour BX, and Z Star XV are my choices of game balls.”
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.
“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
