Callaway wants you to mack out its Mack Daddy 3 wedges
The only thing better than buying a new wedge? Being able to customize that wedge to your exact specifications. For some golfers, that simply means getting the right shaft and grip. GolfWRXers often like to take it a step further, though, which we support and understand. And the good news for Mack Daddy 3 wedge lovers is that Callaway understands, too.
A new program called Callaway Customs allows golfers to mack out their MD3 wedges with custom paint fill, stampings, loft, lie, shafts, grips and the finish of their choice (satin chrome or matte black). Say you wanted a Matte Black MD3 with red-and-white paint fill, plus murdered out skull-and-crossbones stampings. Maybe you wanted to throw in some white “59” stampings for good measure, just so your golfing buddies know your 58 W-Grind is bent 1-degree weak. You can do that.
Of course, the more you do the more it costs. Custom paint fill will set you back $20 and custom stampings are $15-25. Callaway’s full line of custom iron shafts and grips are available, some of which carry an extra charge.
The price of the wedge I customized — I added True Temper’s Dynamic Gold S400 Tour Issue shaft (+$35) and Golf Pride’s Tour Velvet grip (+$6) — came to $215.99 and would ship to me in 1-2 weeks.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

So that means I can get an Custom Edel Fitted Wedge with (less) Stampings for less than a Callaway MD3 Wedge.
I applaud Callaway but the price for limited extra stampings and paint should not be more than $25.
