11 Revealing Photos from the BMW Championship
GolfWRX was live this week from the 2015 BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois. If you missed any of our photos, make sure to browse the galleries below.
FedExCup Playoff competitors had a week off last week, which meant no photos to reveal. I know, talk about a rough week. But we’re back this week and inching closer to the $10 million Playoff prize.
Shut up and reveal some photos already? Fair enough.
Sergio’s flame-broiled prototype
Sergio’s torched TaylorMade Daytona prototype from Kia Ma has blue hues that subtly match his European Ryder Cup-inspired SuperStroke grip. A nice touch for the prideful Spaniard, who loves to represent his European squad in style.

I was getting worried TaylorMade didn’t have a flat brim, snapback M1 hat yet
I’m pretty sure Dustin Johnson would have to withdraw from the BMW Championship if he had to wear a normal, fully curved-brim hat. That would be like John Daly wearing khakis or Tiger wearing blue on Sunday.
Ryan Moore’s new PXG 0311T irons
If you’re a better player who was interested in the PXG 0311 irons, but didn’t like all that offset, here’s your answer. No word yet on when/if they’ll hit retail/fitting centers.

Someone should clue the PGA Tour in, too.
Justin Rose: Itsy Bitsy, Rd. 2
Rosey switched into TaylorMade’s Itsy Bitsy Spider putter for the 2015 Open Championship. It stayed in his bag for a few weeks, but then he switched back into a blade-style putter for the PGA Championship. Now it seems he’s been lured back into the Itsy Bitsy Spider model and has the Jason Day prototype in his bag this week. Tough to blame him. That putter looks awesome.

Phil Mickelson intervention?
Attention all GolfWRX readers, Phil Mickelson, our fellow gear head, needs our help. This lead tape addiction is getting out of control, and I’m worried for his well-being. I mean, there’s lead tape wrapped around the hosel of his putter. I knew it was bad, but this, this is too much.
We’ve seen the signs all along, but it’s time he seeks professional guidance before this spirals out of control. If he doesn’t get the proper guidance, who knows what will happen. Help us help you, Phil!
Be careful around Cubs fans
They’re furiously passionate — as proven by the pants in the photo above — but they’ll drive you into a pit of pessimism from which you’ll never return.
This particular Cubs fan is one of Bill Murray’s brothers, who’s also an actor, and according my secret insider sources (it’s Greg, our Tour photographer), he was inducted into the Western Golf Association Hall of Fame along with all of his five brothers this week. The Murray’s grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, thus, he’s a Chicago Cubs fan.
Doubled up
Harris English has two sliding weights in his Callaway Great Big Bertha driver, as opposed to just one, which is how the club is sold at retail. The two weights help move the CG even farther rearward for added forgiveness.

The essentials for AimPoint
All you need is a level, some colorful sticks and the willingness to look goofy when holding your fingers up in front of your face before every putt.
AimPoint has gathered a cult-like following, and the green-reading system is currently being employed by some of the world’s best golfers, including Hunter Mahan, Adam Scott, Ian Poulter, Lydia Ko and Stacy Lewis. If you’re struggling on the greens, do yourself a favor and read up on AimPoint this off-season.

They’re poker chips, not potato chips
But whatever makes the fans happy. That’s what GolfWRX is all about.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
