Sergio officially joins Team SuperStroke

Published

on

Sergio Garcia officially signed a multi-year equipment deal with Team SuperStroke on Wednesday. If you follow along with our Tour photos every week, this probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

Garcia has been using a SuperStroke grip on his putter since 2013 — he currently uses an UltraSlim 1.0 — and recently switched into the TX1 grips on his irons, wedges and woods, as well. His SuperStroke grips are all inspired by the European Ryder Cup team colors.

Garcia, currently the No. 10-ranked player in the world, joins Jordan Spieth, Jason Dufner and Victor Dubuisson on Team SuperStroke.

Any type of golfer, amateur or professional, can benefit from playing our grips.”[/quote_box_center]

Often pegged as the best player without a major, the 35-year-old Garcia has logged 24 professional wins throughout his career, including 8 PGA Tour victories — his most notable being the 2008 Players Championship. He’s finished runner-up in four major championships and finished T6 at The Open Championship this year at St. Andrews.

I look forward to seeing how this latest enhancement to my game will help me achieve even more success.”[/quote_box_center]

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
