Justin Thomas makes another putter switch for Truist Championship
Justin Thomas has struggled on the greens in 2026, with the 33-year-old sitting 152nd on tour for Strokes Gained: Putting this season.
Thomas has been experimenting with different flatsticks in recent weeks, dropping his Scotty Cameron Phantom 5 Tour Prototype in favor of a Newport 2 GSS at last week’s Cadillac Championship, but the blade’s spot in the bag is set to be short lived.
At last week’s event, Thomas lost almost 6 strokes to the field with his Newport 2 GSS and it has led the multiple major champ to put a Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R putter in the bag for the Truist Championship.
.@ScottyCameron Phantom 9.5R for JT this week. Spoke with Brad Cloke about the switch and JT’s is the same build as Cameron Young’s. Check out the @GolfWRX YouTube channel tomorrow for more. https://t.co/TXX3iKu0OM pic.twitter.com/qr4gfXdDAG

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Frank, you’re an idiot. Coming off back Surgery the expectations have most likely been exceeded already. Have you heard of the “Players Championship”? A top twenty player still despite lacking great putting stats. Not quite a ship without a rudder.
