GolfWRXers Discuss: Why this Titleist 7-wood is a unicorn
In our forums, our members have been discussing Titleist’s GT1 7-wood. WRXer ‘bjno1300’ has ordered the club and is waiting for delivery. He reaches out to fellow members for their thoughts on the club compared to the GT2, with plenty of praise coming in for both clubs – with one user even breaking down why they believe the GT1 is a unicorn.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- JAM01: “I have played both. I’ve mentioned in a few other recent threads that the GT1 is a unicorn in that while it might be viewed as a lightweight club for slower swing speeds, you can tweak it with a heavier shaft, adjust the weights and make it work for a broad range of golfers. It’s also a little more forgiving and should launch higher. I have the 5, 7, 9 in the bag for the coming year.”
- gm12673: “Same for me. Highly recommended. Stupidly easy to launch high and straight.”
- Torkie07: “Love the GT1. Have it in the 5w. It was going shorter than my TSR3 though so I cranked the 5w down to 17.25 and moved the GT1 up to 19.5 and cut to 7w length. Makes a crazy easy to hit “7w” for me. May be a bit close in gap but it’s so easy to hit it can stay in the bag.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Hywood 4+.
I don’t really swing,just go back a couple of feet,the smoothly hit the back of the ball,off a white castle tee,and it gives me around the 180 mark.Most I had with a three quarter swing,with carry,is 288.
I do not think I can beat those figures, and will just be wasting cash.It is the indian not the arrows.
