Spotted: Rickie Fowler testing multiple new clubs at the Arnold Palmer Invitational
It’s been a solid start for Rickie Fowler on the PGA Tour to begin 2026, with the Californian finishing no worse than T28 from his four starts.
Now Fowler turns his attention to the Arnold Palmer Invitational, an event he has performed strongly at in the past, and ahead of the event, we’ve spotted some new clubs the 37-year-old is testing out on the practice grounds at Bay Hill.
At the top of the bag, Rickie has been testing a new King Cobra Tec 7-wood, as well as a King Tec 4-hybrid prior to this week’s tournament.

These would be significant changes for Rickie, who has been gaming a combo of a mini-driver, 5-wood and 4-iron to compliment his Cobra OPTM X driver to begin 2026.

In addition, Fowler has also been spotted testing a center shafted Scotty Cameron Red X putter at Bay Hill this week.

Here are a few posts from our members reacting to the new clubs Rickie has been testing, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- Birdieputt19: “Wow that 7-wood is pretty! I’d switch my Darkspeed for this instantly!”
- Nickiet55: “Give us that fairway now!!!!! I think all of us at WRX can take turns using it. I get it the first weekend and we will discuss dates after that!”
- akap4surf: “I am in love with this putter!”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
