I hit these Ping irons for the first time and holy moly…
In our forums, our members have been reacting to a very impressed WRXer’s reaction after hitting an off the rack set of Ping Blueprint S irons. WRXer ‘JourneyToBreak80’ kicks off the thread saying:
“I’m currently gaming the Ping iBlades. Last night while visiting San Diego I popped into a shop and tried an off the rack Blueprint S, good gravy they felt amazing and I was getting solid numbers just in the default setup.
Anyone gaming these? How have they compared to other blade like setups?”
And our members have been sharing their thoughts and experience with the clubs in our forum.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- SBH9458: “I was fitted into Blueprint S and love them. I blended Blueprint T in 8-P, with S the rest of the way. Literally nothing about this setup disappoints me. Ping hit a home run this time.”
- Canuckgolfer67: “Yup, shockingly amazing. I have gamed 2021 T100, 2023 T100, P770, P7cb, srixon Zxi7 etc etc. These outperform them all in all categories, IMO. I actually initially had a set of these, and then sold them to try out P7cb, and then went back to the blueprint S. So forgiving for how small they are. Feel is great. Size is on the smaller side with very little offset, which I prefer. Only kicker is the price… ouch.”
- Yoshifan151: “They are some seriously awesome irons. I used my set for almost 2 years before I got the KM Baby Blades but could’ve easily kept these in my bag for plenty of more years. The feel out of the center is butter soft, they look sharp, and I really enjoy the amount of bounce on the soles especially as I’m generally on the steeper side. I’m going to keep my set, Ping really knocked it out of the park with these.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
