Titleist announces updated Pro V1x Left Dash golf ball for 2026

Published

on

Today, Titleist has unveiled the next generation of its Pro V1x Left Dash golf ball, which first landed at retail as a Custom Performance Option (CPO) in 2019. The updated model, which began tour seeding last year, features faster dual-core technology and advanced aerodynamics designed to deliver greater distance with more consistent flight.

Where does Left Dash fit in the Pro V1 lineup?

The Pro V1x Left Dash occupies a unique position in Titleist’s golf ball lineup, offering a high trajectory similar to the standard Pro V1x but with dramatically lower full-swing spin and a firmer feel. This makes it ideal for players seeking maximum distance off the tee while maintaining tour-level control around the greens.

According to Frederick Waddell, Titleist’s Director of Golf Ball Product Management, Left Dash has become the first-choice recommendation in approximately 6-8 percent of golf ball fittings through Titleist’s proprietary fitting app.

2026 Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash: What’s new

The new Pro V1x Left Dash features improvements across every layer:

  • Faster high gradient dual core: New formulation with increased resiliency boosts ball speed and distance
  • Thicker high-flex casing layer: Adds speed while reducing long-game spin
  • Thinner cast urethane cover: Maintains tour-level greenside spin and control
  • Advanced aerodynamics: New 348 tetrahedral dimple design creates more efficient and consistent flight

Inside the development process

The new Pro V1x Left Dash represents over four years of development work. In April 2023, Titleist brought a prototype to PGA Tour players for testing, but feedback revealed the design was moving away from what Left Dash players valued most. The prototype’s spin rates were creeping too high on short irons, pushing it closer to the standard Pro V1x.

Accordingly, Titleist’s R&D team went back to the drawing board to refocus on Left Dash’s core attributes: speed, distance, and low spin. This player-driven approach ultimately resulted in a ball that stays true to the Left Dash DNA while delivering measurable performance gains.

Pricing and availability

The new Pro V1x Left Dash will be available starting January 21 at $57.99 per dozen.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
