Motocaddy announces Pro 5000 laser rangefinder
Today, Motocaddy has introduced its Pro 5000 laser rangefinder, which delivers plenty of technology at a sub-$250 price point.
The Pro 5000 features PinLock technology with slope compensation and provides distance accuracy within one yard, according to the company. The device has a maximum range of 1,500 yards and can measure distances to flags up to 350 yards away. It includes a 6x magnification lens and an OLED display for visibility in various lighting conditions, and it also incorporates target-scanning and background-noise-reduction features.

The Pro 5000 runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with USB-C charging capability. Its slope-compensation algorithm calculates elevation-adjusted distances to assist with club selection, and this function can be turned off to meet competition regulations. The Pin Lock feature provides vibration and visual feedback when a target is acquired. Additional features include automatic standby mode, an adjustable eyepiece, and the ability to switch between yards and meters.
According to Oliver Churcher, Motocaddy’s Marketing Director, the Pro 5000 builds on the previous Pro 3000 model with improvements to optics, accuracy, ergonomics, styling, and power efficiency.
“The price offers incredible value compared to other models on the market, and we anticipate it being a big hit with golfers,” Churcher added.

The rangefinder weighs 220 grams (7.7 ounces) and has an IPX5 water-resistance rating. It includes a magnetic cart mount, compatibility with Motocaddy’s Accessory Station, and comes with a hard-shell carry case. The product is backed by a 24-month warranty.
The rangefinder is available exclusively through the company’s website and retails for $249.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
