Most fun club in your bag? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing the club in their bag that they have the most fun with. WRXer ‘BEJRSFTA’ kicks off the thread, saying:
“Forget your best club in your bag, there are already a million threads on that. I want to know which club in your bag is the most fun to play with.
Could be a low spin driver that’s erratic but hits bombs on occasion, super friendly easy to hit and launch 3W, MBs that feel amazing which maybe aren’t optimal for your game but you can’t give up that sweet, sweet rush of flushing a blade, or a wedge with a very versatile bounce that allows for creativity around the greens.
For me, it’s my GW. I play a 48* SM10 F grind bent to 50*, which takes away the offset and adds a bit more bounce. It’s the longest wedge I hit on full shots and I love the feeling when I flush it. The spin is easy to control so it’s great for shots where you want to drop and stop on a dime. It’s also my go to for anything around the greens that doesn’t require low bounce or more loft.”
And our members have been sharing their most fun club in our forums.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- BowMain42: “Well, it IS WRX, so the only correct answer is DRIVER. But the most fun one right now for me is my 5h, though I do have a couple of old butter knife 5i sitting around that put a smile on my face. (Best one right now is either that, my 6i, or my 54).”
- Rory4Pres: “7 wood. Previously I’d try to hit a hard long iron or hybrid and hope I made good contact and it went semi straight. Now I’m swinging with ease, working the ball however I want on command. Can take 15 yards off no problem. Bad lie, no problem either. It’s a really fun club.”
- HugoBauss: “My Cobra F7 3h. Hit it any opportunity I can because I always pure it.”
- jtmagic: “Titleist GT1 9 wood. I smile every time I hit it.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
