Miura launches new limited edition KM-Baby Blades
For some golfers, the Miura MB-101 is a set of beautiful irons, but they look a little large to the eye. If you are one of these very traditional golfers who value feel and craftsmanship over everything, Miura has the new KM-Baby Blades for you.
Miura KM-Baby Blades are limited edition irons that are 15% smaller than the more traditional MB-101 irons that are so popular. This smaller size was a design that founder Katsuhiro Miura created for himself to enhance the feedback. The wild thing about the smaller size is that Miura packs the same mass into the KM-Baby Blades as the MB-101 allowing the blades to offer extreme levels of feedback to the golfer’s hands. These new KM-Baby Blades are forged from soft S20C carbon steel like most of Miura’s forged players irons.
While the look and construction are very traditional and classic there is a more updated sole design. Katsuhiro Miura’s son, Yoshitaka, is credited with the Y-sole that improves turf interaction. A pre-worn leading edge is paired with trailing edge relief for reduced digging and a smooth exit from the turf.
Miura KM-Baby Blades are available in right hand only at a price of $400 per head.
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.
“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
