Oldest club in your bag? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing the oldest clubs in their bag. WRXer ‘parbung’ kicks off the thread saying:
“Still rocking my Odyssey Dual Force 660. I had the OEM grip for years until i decided on getting some jumbos on these bad boys. Every time I tell myself I’m getting a new one, the 660 will magically send my balls into the hole.
At this point, it’s never coming out of the bag.”
And our members have been sharing the oldest club in their bag in our forums.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- stryper: “TP Mills Professional Series Klassic. A couple of different Odyssey 7’s have tried to replace it, but the Klassic keeps finding its way back into the bag some 15 or more years later.”
- NCLancer: “Nike Sumo2 hybrid. Very versatile as I use it on Par 3’s, from the rough and even chipping around the green. Been in the bag for 10+ years…bought used at Golfsmith (RIP) in Raleigh, NC.”
- AC in TX: “Ping Eye 2+ Sand wedge … one of the best sand wedges ever!”
- otto6457: “Taylormade V-Steel 3 wood and 5 wood. Got them around 2000. Tried a few different fairway woods over the years but they didn’t kick these out of the bag. They just have that feel and sound that is “it” along going through the window that is so good. When you know it…..you just know it.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
