Tour Toe Stamp: Vokey announces latest WedgeWorks release
If you’ve kept tabs on GolfWRX’s WITBs in recent years, you’ve likely seen an interesting trend in some players’ Vokey Wedges: Gone is the, say, “56” stamping on the toe of a wedge and in its place, an “S.”
For example, Tom Kim’s wedge, shot at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson…

What’s going on here? Enter the “Tour Toe Stamp.”
In keeping with the WedgeWorks project of bringing tour designs to retail, Vokey Design unveiled a limited run of SM10 wedges featuring “P-G-S-L” toe stamps, a style inspired by player requests on the PGA Tour and brought to life by longtime Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill. The trend began on the Titleist tour truck, where Dill was asked to remove traditional loft/bounce/grind markings from the sole and replace them with:
- P – Pitching wedge
- G – Gap wedge
- S – Sand wedge
- L – Lob wedge

The custom look quickly gained traction among pros, including Will Zalatoris, Tom Kim, and Wyndham Clark, all of whom currently game full sets of toe-stamped SM10s.
“The customization of wedges has changed so much over the years,” said Dill. “I saw an opportunity to explore new and fun ways to highlight players’ personalities on the backs of their Vokey wedges.”
The wedges are offered exclusively in a raw finish, with the following model breakdown:
- P: 46.10F
- G: 50.08F, 52.08F
- S: 54.10S, 54.14F, 56.10S, 56.14F
- L: 58.08M, 58.12D, 60.04T, 60.08M

Functional fix to style statement
Dill originally developed the toe stamp concept as a solution for tour players who made loft changes but disliked seeing altered loft numbers on their clubs.
“One player I recall needed his sand wedge to carry an additional eight yards,” said Dill. “He hated seeing the new loft on the sole. The easiest solution was to remove it and replace it with a simple ‘S’ stamp. He loved it, and the feature stuck.”
While the idea began as a performance tweak, it’s now a stylistic signature seen throughout the Vokey staff.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
