Wilson Golf: A force to be reckoned with

Published

on

If you’ve been active in the forums recently, you already know that a handful of GolfWRX members got the golf/golf equipment experience of a lifetime. We’ve already filled you in about how four lucky WRXers got to experience Wilson’s new Dynapwr drivers, Staff Model irons, and Dynapwr irons in an exclusive testing event at the just-opened Cabot Farms. The stuff of Club Junkie dreams!

Now, we want to zoom out a few hundred feet to give you a rundown of exactly what these lucky folks got to experience in Florida. Here’s a brief look at the scenes in this golf dream sequence.

After arriving at Cabot Citrus farms and enjoying first-class dinner, the GolfWRX members spent the next day getting fit for a full bag of clubs, enjoying the outdoors — including skeet shooting and fishing, and dining at The Porch, before getting a chance to play the impressive new The Wedge par 3 course.

The next day, the WRXers got the incredible opportunity to tee it up at Cabot’s first property in the United States. The golf alone would have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but add in a full bag fitting and you get, what, a once-in-two-lifetimes experience? Awesome stuff!

Check out the video above to see…

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
