Mizuno launches new Pro T-1 and Pro T-3 wedges to fit any golfer

Published

on

Mizuno has long been one of the last forged wedges still available in the USA. As most have moved to casting or other processes Mizuno has stayed tried and true to their forging roots. Now Mizuno gives us their latest forged creations, the Pro T-1 & Pro T-3 wedges for 2025.

Both wedges are Grain Flow Forged HD like Mizuno irons for precise shapes and tighter tolerances using 1025E carbon steel. Mizuno goes with 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon steel and then uses their copper underlay to give the wedges that soft Mizuno feel you expect. With wedges feel and responsiveness are two key ingredients that Mizuno makes sure to get right so feel or touch players can make those small swing adjustments during the round in order to get the ball close to the hole.

Mizuno’s Pro T-1 is the more compact wedge designed for players who like that look and a wedge that can be very versatile around the green. And speaking of versatility, the new Pro T-1 has 6 sole grind options for make sure the wedge works with your swing, conditions, and types of shots you like to hit. The new M sole is mid-bounce and replaces the previous D-Grind and the new P sole adds more bounce to the D-Grind. Quad Cut+ grooves are milled into the face with precision to ensure spin stays consistent from shot to shot and from any lie. Mizuno also brought back the Hydroflow Micro Grooves that help provide spin loss from wet conditions or lies around the green. The Hydroflow Micro Grooves work by channeling moisture away from the main grooves, creating more friction between the ball and wedge face. You will get the choice of 3 different finishes with the Pro T-1 wedge; Soft White Satin, Blue Ion, and Black Ion.

The new Mizuno Pro T-3 wedge is engineered with stability in mind, helping golfers hit more consistent shots around the green. The Pro T-3 has a cavity back and a slightly longer blade length that should offer forgiveness on shots that didn’t find the center of the wedge. A lot of “forgiving” wedges tend to not offer too much in the way of versatility, but Mizuno made sure to change that narrative. The new Pro T-3 will offer 3 different sole options in the S, M, and C to work with different swings, conditions, and shot types. Like the Pro T-1, the M sole on the Pro T-3 will replace the D-Grind previously offered. Just like the Pro T-1 Mizuno included the same Quad Cut+ gooves and Hydroflow Micro Grooves for high spinning performance. Mizuno is only offering the Pro T-3 in the Soft White Satin finish.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
