Graphite Design Tour AD VF Hybrid shaft review – Club Junkie Reviews
About the Tour AD VF Hybrid: Graphite Design’s new Tour AD VF Hybrid shaft is here to complement the already tour-validated wood shaft. Constructed with high-end carbon fiber like Torayca T1100G and using Graphite Design’s MSI technology, the VF is ready for stronger players looking for controlled launch and spin. This hybrid shaft is designed for a low/mid launch and low spin while maintaining a smooth feel. The Tour AD VF Hybrid is offered in 75, 85, 95, and 105 weight classes.

Look & Feel
Out of the box, the shaft looks good in its black and red paint. Where the two colors meet, up near the grip, is where you can also find the famous Graphite Design Tour AD rings that add a little silver to the shaft. There is a slight metallic shine when you get the shaft into bright sunlight, but nothing distracting.
The feel of the VF is very similar to the wood shaft in that it feels a little more stout compared to a DI or IZ hybrid shaft. Even though it is a little stiffer feeling, the VF is still smooth and doesn’t offer your hands any harsh vibration. The VF loads a little less with its stiffer handle section and the kick at impact is more controlled as well. Turning over the VF takes a little more effort as the shaft wants to hit a straighter ball.

Performance
As listed in Graphite Design’s specs the Tour AD VF Hybrid shaft offered me a lower, more penetrating trajectory than I had before. This isn’t a crazy low launching shaft and you can still hit it high enough to land softly, but the apex on my shots was flatter. At no point, on any swing, did I not feel in control of my shots with the VF. Now I put poor swings on shots, but the VF produced ball flights that I expected every time. I start the ball on a little more of a left line naturally but the VF did shift that slightly to the right and I noticed a little less draw curve on my flight.
Off the tee, I could hit penetrating shots that got a little roll out in the fairway while I could still hit the ball high enough off the turf to land softly on the green with a predictable amount of release. Distance control was very good as well as the PXG Black Ops 4 hybrid I installed the shaft into had some added consistency when hitting on the launch monitor.

Final Thought
If you are a player looking for control and consistency out of your hybrid shaft, the Graphite Design Tour AD VF Hybrid could be a great option to try. The VF can help hit a straighter ball that you can flight or work around the golf course.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
