2nd TaylorMade x Kith collaboration features Qi10 driver, one-of-a-kind iron design, and more

Published

on

Two years after their initial collaboration, TaylorMade and Kith are at it again. The Carlsbad equipment giant and the NYC-based fashion and lifestyle brand have joined forces to create “to a collection of technical apparel, accessories, and golf equipment as seen through the Kith lens.”

Of greatest interest to GolfWRXers, this means some very Qi10 driver, P790 iron, and MG4 wedge designs.

Check them out below.

Kith for TaylorMade Qi10 driver

Available in rose gold and black, the Qi10 drivers feature the Kith monogram logo on the crown and a gold foil alignment aid. 9 and 10.5-degree lofts with a special edition Ventus TR shaft and black Golf Pride Z-Grip. $650.

Kith P790 irons

TaylorMade’s P790 irons get the Kith treatment with a gradient color scheme that gets darker throughout the set, from chrome in the 4 and 5-irons to black in the pitching wedge. “P790” becomes “K790,” and roman numerals replace the standard iron numbering. 4-PW with True TemperDynamic Gold 105 black shafts and Golf Pride Z-Grip (RH only). $1,750.

Kith MG4 wedges

With colorways designed to complement the gradient P790s, Kith MG4 wedges are crafted in nightshade (52 degrees), bronze (56 degrees) and gold (60 degrees). True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 shaft and Golf Pride Z-Grip (RH only). $295.

Kith Spider Tour putter

Kith opts for a rainbow PVD finish for the Spider Tour with black weights and a gold sightline. 34 inches with small slant No. 3 hosel and a special edition SuperStroke Pistol GT 1.0 Grip (RH only). $445.

I like the irons. Not for me to play, but that’s not terrible. As a limited collaboration, mostly good.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
