Callaway launches Chrome Soft USA TruTrack golf balls
Callaway today announced its TruTrack USA golf balls, which combine elements of the company’s Truvis and Triple Track technology for improved alignment and roll feedback as well as visible spin.

Check out the new hexagon shape and USA design, below.
Callaway’s Senior Director of Golf Ball R&D, Eric Loper explained the technology.
“It’s really the combination of Truvis, where the feedback has been more of a dynamic feedback component – the ball looks larger, it helps people focus, or it just looks different on course – with the alignment component that we have with Triple Track.
“What we’ve incorporated in this design, is we’ve really revamped the entire pattern over the golf ball. And we’ve incorporated an alignment line based on Tour player feedback, a lot of Tour players are using alignment lines now, and we’ve incorporated that into the design. And we’ve modified the Truvis pentagons to hexagonal (shapes), which gives us more opportunities to create alignment tools, or parallel lines. We’ve then bracketed that center line with these hexagonals.
“Really for the golfer, it enables them to align their putts using that singular line, and you’re bracketing that singular line to help provide a more visual component. And when you strike the putt, when the ball starts rolling, you can see how well you putted it, you can see the feedback component. The high contrast colors are more visible and as that ball is rolling away from you, it allows you to see the ball easier.”
“We’ve made hundreds of prototypes and small tweaks here and there to help get it to where we think it’s perfect. We’ve gone to 8 hexagonal positions centered around that line, which gives us great symmetry.”
The USA TruTrack is available in Chrome Soft, Chrome Soft X, and Chrome Soft X LS golf balls now for $49.99/dozen.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
