Spotted: Hideki Matsuyama’s Scotty Cameron T2 prototype putter
Hideki Matsuyama is no stranger to trying new golf clubs and shafts, so it should be no shock that he has a new Scotty to test out at the AT&T Byron Nelson this week. Hideki has been using Scotty Cameron putters for a long time now, and this new head is marked with “HM T2” in the back cavity. We think that the “HM” is simply Hideki’s initials, while the “T2” refers to the head shape, a Timeless 2.

The Timeless 2 is similar to the Newport 2 but with softer edges and a slightly more beefed-up shape. The face can be a little taller and it can be a little wider from face to back. Most of Hideki’s putters are a silver finish, and I don’t remember if we have seen him with a black putter recently. The black finish is complemented with red paint fill on the single site line on the flange and “HIDEKI” on the heel-side bumper.

The head looks to be 350 grams from the stamping on the sole, and the face has a pretty shallow milling on it. It also features a steel shaft and a black Scotty Cameron Studio Design grip, which, according to Scotty, is part pistol and part paddle in shape.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
