Bettinardi is celebrating its 25th anniversary with limited putters runs. First up: BB1 MS

25 years! Bettinardi is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a limited run of putters (one model per month in 2023, 250 putters in each run). The Tinley Park, Illinois, company is kicking off the collection with the BB1 MS. The design was one of Robert J. Bettinardi’s first when the manufacturer, designer, and engineer struck out on his own after milling putters for major OEMs through the 90s.

Bettinardi pioneered milling a putter from a solid block of steel sans forgings, castings, or welds, and the BB1 MS was an early example of his efforts.

Check out the putter specs and additional details below.

Model: BB1 MS
Material: 303 stainless steel
Face insert: Gold-plated 303SS
Neck: Mid-style plumbers
Face milling: Mini honeycomb
Weight: 352 grams
Finish: Tour blast/High polish
Grip: Black leather perforated Gripmaster

The heel features an open Hex milling with Roman numerals “XXV” to emphasize the significance of this silver anniversary putter, while the sole showcases a “1/250” engraving to mark its limited quantity.

“I am so proud of this huge milestone for Bettinardi, and all that we have accomplished over the last 25 years,” said Robert Bettinard. “From the 100 professional wins to the cult-like following in The Hive of our bespoke offerings, and with distribution in over 45 countries around the world, Bettinardi’s future has never been brighter.”

The limited run kick-off putter will be available on January 31st at 10 a.m. CST in the Hive online at Bettinardi.com.

Bettinardi putters are so overly designed they look like DIY clothes that moms bedazzled in the 90s

I have zero respect for anyone who buys them and/or thinks they are a good design.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
