Interesting photos from the 2021 Chitimacha Louisiana Open
If you haven’t already had the chance to dive into the eight galleries of pictures we have from 2021 Chitimacha Louisiana Open, you can check them out here in the GolfWRX Tour & Pre-release Equipment forum.
But if you are looking to get the Cliff’s Notes version of what we saw at the event, here are the top things we’ve spotted.
Putting is important
When you consider the amount of talent in professional golf, it is endlessly fascinating to see the number of drills, tools, and routines players use on the greens to find a groove.

Here is a closer look at the custom Scotty Cameron putter.

You know a putter has “seen some things” when most of the PVD/paint on the shaft has worn off from use.

BGT Stability shaft + TaylorMade Truss, I dare you to find a more stable putter.

From the “pros are just like us file,” you have to make sure your grip is just right after a re-grip, and that’s what’s going on here.

From the tips
You know a course is set up long when you take your practice swing in the rough behind the tee.

Use them ’till the grooves are gone
Professional golfers have access to anything and everything when it comes to equipment, and it’s always interesting to see some of the iron sets still in play—even if they are just a few years old.
This mixed bag has a set of P760 irons from TaylorMade

Here we have another set of TaylorMade forged irons, this time P750, which are still a fantastic-looking iron, and were also recently used on the PGA Tour by Sergio Garcia.

Jonas Blixt has a special place in my heart for continuing to use “King” Cobra Pro MB which was released all the way back in 2008. It also looks like he has a TaylorMade M3 fairway wood too.

Maybe it’s a Swedish thing?
Although not as long in the tooth as Jonas Blixt’s Cobra’s, David Lingmerth continues to stick with a set of Ping i25s – originally released in 2014.

Last by not least in the “classic clubs of the week” file, is the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi spotted here. Although the MP20 irons are still a very current product, the driving iron in the bag is getting on 10 years old now based on its original release data 0f 2012. If I have said it once I have said it 100 times—if it’s not broken, don’t fix it!

Raw irons never got old
Although they never picked up mainstream popularity, raw irons are a popular choice among many pros including the one below.

Hey! Where did my golf bag go?
Don’t lay these golf bags down in long rough, you might lose them.

Although the camo bags are hard to spot, the Ping S55 irons (the last S-series iron before the i-Blade) are not. This particular set is looking really fresh too.

Tommy Gainey’s Backstryke putter
Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey has an interesting swing, an interesting bag of clubs—including the game improvement Callaway Rogue Pro—and continues to use the very unique Odyssey Backstryke putter.

Tiger on the prowl
This bag full of Srixon gear is topped with the instantly recognizable “Tiger” cover from Daphne’s Headcovers, and much like anyone that wears a particular athlete’s signature shoes or jersey—I consider this a sign of respect, game recognizing game.

Callaway TCB irons continue to be very popular
The Callaway Apex TCB (Tour Cavity Back) irons continue to be a popular choice out on tour, and it has us asking if based on this popularity they will be released into the retail market.

You won’t find these at your local store
OEM’s make all kinds of “tour issue” products and a couple of interesting ones we spotted include a Titleist U500 5-iron. The retail offering only goes to a 23-degree 4-iron.

Australian Ryan —brother to 2019 U.S. Women’s Am winner Gabi Ruffels (talk about a sibling rivalry)—had a fully custom Artisan 60-degree lob wedge in the bag emblazoned with a kangaroo.

Let’s also take a moment to just admire the simple classic styling of Odyssey Toulon.
