PXG announces GEN4 lineup will be revealed March 9

Published

on

PXG has today revealed that its all-new GEN4 golf clubs are on their way.

Billed as “the apex of the company’s club lineup,” per PXG, the new flagship GEN4 golf clubs present “significant advancements in materials innovations, combined with precision engineering and personalized performance.”

The move to announce the specific date of a club launch weeks in advance to the public at large is a new one in the equipment space, but PXG is nothing if not unmarried to convention.

As for the specifics of the lineup and the technology therein, we’ll have to wait, but we do know the GEN4 series of clubs includes drivers, fairways, hybrids. Full details of the clubs will be available March 9, with GEN4 arriving at retail on March 30.

Speaking on the new GEN4 series, PXG founder and CEO Bob Parsons said

“We’ve held nothing back, spared no expense, and poured every ounce of innovation, and every lesson learned into these babies. The result – clubs that are absolutely amazing and expensive, but worth every cent. Everything you would expect from PXG and more.”

Today’s announcement comes one month after the company released its all-new PXG 2021 0211 Golf Clubs, and the GEN4 clubs are priced as the following

  • Drivers: $549
  • Fairways: $429
  • Hybrids: $379
  • Irons: $349

As with all PXG clubs, special pricing will be available to all current and past military, veterans, and first responders through the PXG for Heroes program.

“We want everyone to experience PXG’s killer patented technology, so we’ve expanded our offerings to support a wider audience of golfers. Whether you prefer the latest technology and most advanced fitting options or simply want a sexy set of sticks that deliver incredible performance, we’ve got you covered, and we’re proud to count you among our PXG Troops.”

– Bob Parsons

Stay tuned for full details on the new GEN4 clubs on March 9.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
