Rickie Fowler switches to friend’s Scotty Cameron putter at the 2021 Phoenix Open
Rickie Fowler has been trying to recapture his form on the greens over the past 12 months, and the 32-year-old made a significant change at this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Fowler cast aside his Scotty Cameron X5 Prototype for Friday’s round in Phoenix, and our members quickly identified his new flat-stick: a Scotty Cameron Art of Putting Oil Can Newport with a Ping grip.

Per the telecast, the putter belongs to a friend of Fowler’s caddie, but unfortunately the switch didn’t have the desired effect during round two of the event.
Fowler gained almost three strokes tee to green on Friday on his way to a round of 68, but he lost 1.755 on the greens with the new putter and missed the cut.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

When someone randomly changes putters he has no idea what specs work and has no idea what to do. Gone are these times. As a pro, now if you don’t know what length, weight and loft your putter should be your lost and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Models might change but specs don’t unless the player has changed. Maybe he should dump the blade like a vast majority of the top strokes gained putters have. Look it up. It’s like struggling with accuracy with a 350cc driver and switching to another small one while ignoring a 10,000 moi Ping g425 driver. Come on Rickey, get with the program bro. I love ya man, but GEEEEZ.
