Most interesting photos from Tuesday at the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open
If you haven’t already had the chance to dive into the more than 10 galleries of pictures we have from the Farmers Insurance Open being held once again at Torrey Pines, be sure to check them out here in the GolfWRX Tour & Pre-release Equipment forum.

But if you are looking to get the Cliff’s Notes version of what we have seen at the event so far—like a high school kid prepping for a book report—here are the top things we’ve spotted.
Bubba using iron covers

As a lifetime Ping staffer, I don’t think Bubba is worried about the resale value of his irons, but these iron covers from Ping Japan are still a fun way to keep them clean and organized.
Harold Varner III’s custom Jordan “elephant print” bag

Being a Jordan ambassador has some perks, and for HV III that means his own custom elephant print bag, which also features the name of Jordan’s personal course Grove XXIII (23) on it. I hope that means Harold gets his pick of tee times.
Blast from the past “YES” putter spotted

It’s been a long time since YES! Golf was a major player in the putter world, but we did manage to spot this Mollie model being used by Troy Merrit.
Jhonattan Vegas wearing True Linkswear

Jhonattan has been a long-time Nike staffer, and it’s a bit of a surprise to see him wearing anything but the “swoosh.” Judging by his golf bag along with his outfit, Mr. Vegas is a complete free agent, so following him week to week could be interesting.
Charl Schwartzel with Bettinardi wedge in the bag

Former Masters champ Charl Schwartzel is a notorious tinkerer to the point that he once drilled holes in his own irons to reduce their head weight. Although they are more well know for their putters, Bettinardi has been producing some amazing wedges and it looks like one has ended up in Charl’s bag.
Billy Horschel’s Florida Gators bag

Just in case you didn’t know where he went to school, Billy Horschel is making it very clear with his new Florida Gators bag.
Hunter Mahan’s swing is still pure

Although he has struggled in recent years, you wouldn’t know it by his golf swing—Hunter Mahan’s got game and some serious flow out the back of his hat!
Adam Scott with AutoFlex

Although less well known outside of the main shaft companies AutoFlex has been making headlines thanks to some in-depth reviews, especially from the team at TXG: Testing Autoflex golf shafts. Adam has gone through a number of shafts recently including a Ventus Red from Fujikura, so it will be interesting to see how this works out.
Jason Dufner with Odyssey Jailbird

Jason must have a love for the classics. He refuses to give up his Titleist 915F 7-wood, and this week he was spotted using an Odyssey Jailbird Versa which was released all the way back in 2014.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
