$150 challenge: What are you buying? – GolfWRXers discuss
In our forums, our members have been discussing where their cash would be spent at a golf store in a $150 challenge. WRXers have been showcasing their creativity, with a range of different equipment getting the nod if $150 made its way to our members’ pockets in the morning!
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- SammeShaf: “Rusty 588 RTG and Oilcan/Raw Vokeys. Stamp them, paint them, and wait for soggy winter weather to end.”
- BirdieBob: “An old mistreated Scotty that just needs some TLC/refinish.”
- YMark: “I’d look for a Perfect Practice putting mat.”
- SmashGolfBall: “Costco Kirkland wedges (3 pieces), may need another $20 out of the pocket.”
- Drivingrangehero: “A range finder, since I do not own one!”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

For $150, a new FootJoy pullover I saw Sunday. LOL…first year I didn’t get a gift card to a golf shop!

I did get $200 in Visa cards from my wife, but I always use them when we go out for dinner during the year. Hey…I wonder if she realizes that and skipped the golf shop card to get more dinners?

I like my clubs so no have no need for new equipment right now. Would be a choice between getting my clubs regripped or 3 dozen ProV1’s.
