Possible putter change for Tiger?
In our forums, our members have been speculating over a potential putter change for Tiger Woods. Eagle-eyed WRXer ‘RobertDarrow9’ spotted the following photo of Tiger holding what looks to be a slant neck flat-stick while participating in a Member Guest Tournament in Cabo from Tiger’s TGR Instagram account.

‘RobertDarrow9’ and fellow members have been speculating on what model the putter is, and whether Tiger might switch putters or is just tinkering in the off-season.
It is worth noting also that Tiger changed putters at this year’s PGA Championship after revealing that practicing with his regular gamer was causing him back pain and that the 15-time major champion is coming off the worst putting year of his career.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire thread and have your say at the link below.
- MattM97: “Tiger tinkers in his off time, probably just brought it out for fun since a member guest tournament isn’t exactly competitive.”
- QuigleyDU: “Long slant neck.. Interesting.”
- jil62: “Impossible to tell from this pic, but it looks to me like an old mid-slant. The shaft band kind of fits with the band used on the pro platinum line. But I’m sure it’s probably just my brain finding pattern matches with what it knows from before. ¯\_(?)_/¯ Edit to add: If that’s Tiger’s putter, it seems like one of those situations he’s discussed in the past where he uses different putters to give himself different feels. Would be shocked if this was something we’d see in competition.”
- tbone18: “It does look like a Newport Mid slant.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
