Mitsubishi Chemical launches “First Responder” Tensei Raw shafts

Published

on

Starting September 14, just in time for the U.S. Open, MCA Golf is honoring first responders by releasing 500 limited edition Tensei AV Raw Blue “First Responder” shafts. These shafts and their graphics were developed in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation, whose mission is to honor defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.

The shafts will feature a unique first responder-themed cosmetics in support of the foundation’s First Responders Outreach program, which provides funding for emergency relief efforts, essential equipment, PPE, and training to first responders programs.

“We are honored to be granted this chance to partner with the Gary Sinise Foundation on this unique opportunity,” -Mark Gunther, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for MCA GOLF.

Beyond the graphics, these Limited Edition Tensei AV Raw Blue will include the familiar raw look, which reveals the Aluminum Vapor (AV) Coated Weave in the butt section. This weave provides added stability and gives “AV” its name.

“On behalf of everyone at the Gary Sinise Foundation, we are incredibly grateful for MCA GOLF’s support of our first responders,” – Elizabeth Fields, COO of the Gary Sinise Foundation. “Now more than ever, our first responders are absolutely indispensable to the safety of our communities. Just as our first responders and all of those on the frontlines are working so hard to protect us, the Gary Sinise Foundation wants to do everything we can to protect and support them.”

Price, specs, and availability

The First Responders shafts will be available in the flex and weights: 65 R, S, and TX, 75 S, and TX, along with the 85 TX.

The shafts will be priced at $300 for regular and stiff flexes and $400 for TX flex and will be available exclusively at mca-golf.com starting at 9 a.m. EST September 14th.

Good thing I set my alarm clock for these. Unreal, six months later and every spec is still available. Not even a thread in the forums. Oh well.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
