ZL ENCORE / DEEP IMPACT DI-7X Best COMBO I have hit in a long time
Writter by: Robopti GolfWRX Superman
Hey gang … For a few reasons I have purposely not posted my new COBRA stuff – but I thought I’d share my quick thoughts on ZL Encore.
(Just an fyi – I’m going to go ahead and say it – I am so damn frustrated asking COBRA to show my remaining pics that I just give up – I really do – LONG story)
ANYWAY … COBRA ZL Encore / Graphite Design Deep Impact – Cuz I think I have to credit to both. Truth be told I have been hitting a lot of Graphite Design lately – and their stuff is REALLY working for me.
I have now got enough range/course time under my belt to talk about it. The ZLE is a damn good.
I have been hitting the black one more 😉 – My eyeball likes it – I have both mine shafted with DI-7Xs. 45 inches. AT 1st I was playing them in the nuetral position – and I have tried a DI-8X (whch is now in my S3 – and 44.5). But I finally started hitting in the O position and I have really gotten in a groove.
One thing I have noticed (and it could be a function of the shaft) – but I hit the ZLE very high (I have 2 8.5s) – BUT !!!!! – I finally got a quite a few good rounds in with real balls – and saw the same flight – but it is not spinning at all. It launches very high – flattens out – and releases. I can honestly say it one of the few drivers that is hanging with my Razor Hawk Tour. The kinda launch very similar come to think of it. I am getting a tiny tiny baby draw in the O postion – but I think that’s from the confidence of just ripping at it.
Feel is very good – more metallic the RHT – Distance is awesome. Vs RHT – The ZLE is much easier to hit – not as easy as L4 😉 …. This is in the bag – I like it. Of course I couldnt care less about the 14 club thing – so I always have 2-3 drivers with me.
Vs S3 – S3 hits lower and isnt quite as forgiving as ZLE.
The main thing I notice is that I am getting the exact same ballflight with every drive – like uncanny the same all the time – so I cant complain about consistency.
Gang – I’ll post more soon – I am have been SLAMMED !!!!!!!!!!! lately – and haven’t had time to much of anything let alone post a lot – but I have an hour to kill – so I thought I’d pop in
ZLE/DI-7X for me … winner – I REALLY like it.
ATTA BOY to Graphite Design as well – I have to give as much credit to the shaft I think – The Deep Impact IS THAT GOOD.
For what it’s worth – My main L4 (8* Holmes head) – has a Graphite Design Quattro-tech MD-6TX – BEST combo in the L4 I have EVER hit (45.5 inches)

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
