Puma RS X GOLF shoes debut

Published

on

When it comes to being fashion-forward in golf, there is one company that continues to push boundaries and shift the mindset of what it means to wear “golf shoes”—Puma.

Puma is at it once again by bringing the RS (Running System) platform to golf with the new RS-G shoes.

Now before you go thinking the new RS-G’s are just a stylish 1980’s inspired chunky, eye-catching sneaker with soft spikes made for just dry sunny days on the course—think again. The RS-G’s incorporate a seam-sealed, fully waterproof upper built with microfiber leather to keep your feet dry regardless of the conditions.

The sole features a more aggressive tread pattern than a standard RS sneaker, along with even more strategically placed rubber soft spikes for added traction.

Last but certainly not least is the walking experience and with the RS-G’s you get all-day comfort thanks to Puma’s Fusion Foam midsole and Softfoam sock liner for a snug comfortable fit every time you put them on.

“The RS-G shoes are the perfect combination of street and sports style combined with modern technologies and updates that make them relevant to today’s golfer,”  – Andrew Lawson, PLM Footwear, PUMA Golf.

Puma RS X GOLF: Availability and Pricing

The RS-G will be available for both men and women in a number of classicly retro colorways which include Vaporous Gray & Pureed Pumpkin, White & Quarry,  and Black – Dark Shadow in standard mens sizing, although Puma recommends women looking for a standard fit can go 1.5 sizes smaller.

They will be a Peachskin/High Rise colorway exclusively sized for women too.

The shoes are $130 and will be available online and at retail locations beginning today, June 23, 2020. For more information on the entire PUMA Golf 2020 footwear collection, check out pumagolf.com

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
