Cobra Golf introduces Forged Tec Utility irons

Off of the popularity of the Forged Tec and Forged Tec One Length irons, Cobra Golf took the next step with the introduction of the Forged Tec Utility.

The wider-sole, hollow-body design features PWRSHELL technology, which is a method typically used for metal woods. The features of PWRSHELL include increased ball speeds across the face and allows the player to optimize launch conditions.

Tungsten weighting toward the leading edge gives Forged Tec utility a very low CG, which as we know by now, is the main component of mitigating spin and increasing overall distance.

As with Cobra metal woods and previous versions of the Utility, Forged Tec Utility offers MYFLY8 technology to tune in the loft, lie, and face angle. This feature offers players multiple variations of settings to get dialed in.

Cobra Forged Tec Utility is also available in One Length which should keep Bryson entertained.

Per Cobra Golf:

COBRA KING Utility irons (graphite – $219) will be available in a 2-Utility in RH (adjustable from 16 – 19 degrees), 3-Utility in RH/LH (adjustable from 18 – 21 degrees) and 4-Utility in RH/LH (adjustable from 21 – 24 degrees). The standard Utility comes with a steel KBS $-Taper lite (in S or R flex) and a graphite Project X Catalyst 80 (in X-Stiff, S, or R flex) shaft options with a Lamkin Crossline CONNECT Black grip. The KING Utility ONE Length irons will be available in a 3-Utility (adjustable from 18 – 21 degrees), 4-Utility (adjustable from 21 to 24 degrees) and a 5-Utility (adjustable from 24 to 27 degrees). The ONE Length Utility offering comes standard with a steel KBS $-Taper lite (in S or R flex) and a graphite Project X Catalyst 80 (in S, XS, or R flex) shaft options with a Lamkin Crossline CONNECT Blue grip.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
