What GolfWRXers are saying about Cobra King Forged CB irons
In our forums, our members have been discussing Cobra’s King Forged CB irons – with WRXer ‘Buzzkill’ thinking of changing over to the clubs. Our members have been sharing their thoughts on the models, with the irons receiving plenty of positive feedback from WRXers.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- TigerInTheWoods: “The CB are more forgiving and actually feel a bit softer. The blades look way better. They’re not terrifically forgiving compared to an AP2 or similar, but they have a cool look.”
- QuigleyDU: “The CB’s are great. I have been playing some for a while now. I do find they spin more; I have trouble keeping that down sometimes. Not sure if it is the heads or the shafts..”
- Stanks: “I’ve had maybe 4 – 5 sets of the Cobra King Black MB / CBs. All of which were prior generation. I kept jumping in and out of them with my longest stint of them being about a year. I still think that the MBs really are the best iron that you can ask for, and the DBM finish lasts a real long time even with the sandy turf we have here in SoCal. Now personally, I don’t like flow sets. Either full MB or Full CB. That’s just me being a little bit OCD. I’ve hit the new ones with the stock shaft offering and can’t say I liked the shaft but, the irons are really nice, and you can’t go wrong in my mind. Just make sure you get the right shaft with them. Those $-Tapers just don’t do it for me.”
- GoflingFanatic: “Definitely cool clubs. I wish you could get the newer version in a non-black finish like the previous ones.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
