What GolfWRXers are saying about golf nets
In our forums, WRXer ‘MCL116’ is on the hunt for a golf net and is seeking advice from fellow members on the right choice since he doesn’t have the “grass to have the ability to tie it down into brackets in the grass.” Our members offer their suggestions and include what nets they currently are using.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- rainkingjr: “I just ordered a Rukket Haack. I imagine you could just put a small sandbag on each side and it’ll stay put just fine.”
- parmark: ” $20 for some PVC from Home Depot and $20 for a practice net you can get at Walmart and you too can be hitting in your back yard today! (Photo above)”
- bvmagic: “I’ve been debating whether to get a rukket net or not. As I waited the net I considered pulling the trigger on was sold out. My dad is similarly going through golf withdrawals, and he asked to help him find a net. I ordered #18 3/4 inch net from justfornets, and he will build the frame out of PVC. Once he gets the net, I will report back on the quality.”
- jsmil4901: “I ordered a net and a mat yesterday from playgosports.com yesterday. They are located in So Cal. They shipped yesterday, and I am scheduled to receive the delivery Thursday, April 9th. For reference, I live in Nor Cal. Net 7′ X 7′ and mat totaled $140 with free shipping. Seems like a good deal but we’ll see once I receive the products.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
