Today from the Forums: “Hit some 2020 drivers today. Results…”
Today from the Forums, we take a look at WRXer johnroyal519 who has shared his results from testing 2020 model drivers. For johnroyal519, the Sim Max and TS3 suited him best, who told WRXers:
“TS2 – felt great. A little spinny. Heel Misses were spinning like crazy and getting punished quite a bit.
Maverick Sub Zero – Very very hard to center for me. Misses got killed. I didn’t hit the middle. Struggled with it.
Cobra SZ – Decent. Doesn’t sit square. Felt Tinny. Next.
Ping G410 LST – Good results – ball went high and far. Didn’t care for the look for feel.
Sim – Awesome Driver. Needed a bit more spin though.
Sim Max – Again Awesome driver. Long and felt great.
TS3 – The longest of the day. Look at address is great. Felt unreal. Misses were better than TS2. Dialed into Evenflow White 6.0 OR Tensi Orange Pro.
Debating between Sim Max or Ts3… Decisions decisions…”
Our members have been discussing the 2020 lineups, mentioning what they have found from each new driver, with plenty of different opinions offered up.
Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.
- nikeblades00: “Sim max gives me a ton of confidence at address. Really like the color scheme better than M6. Did you hit the Exotics and Mizuno driver? Both good as well.”
- Mahamilto: “TS3 is fantastic when dialed in… just fantastic.”
- AmazinBlue: “I hit the SIM Max today extensively and didn’t care for it. The sound was weird. It just didn’t work for me. I also hit the Cobra SZ and the Xtreme. The Xtreme was okay, nothing special. I really liked the SZ. Hitting 10.5 and the weight forward, I loved the ball flight, sound and feel. I am planning on getting a fitting for the SZ in white soon.”
- moorebaseball: “TS3 is phenomenal! Look and feel is the BEST, and the performance is AMAZING! Paired with the right shaft fitted for you, it will be a weapon! I have hit all the new offerings, and they are all around the same performance give or take a yard or two. That means it comes down to look and feel, and for me, that is where the TS3 shines.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
