Titleist introduce new Tour Soft, Velocity golf balls for 2020

Published

on

Titleist Golf has launched the latest generation of its Tour Soft golf ball as well as an updated version of their Velocity golf ball featuring multiple new technologies.

The Titleist Tour Soft ball, which arrives in both white and high-optic yellow, features the brand’s largest ever core designed to deliver longer distance and a more responsive feel.

Also new in the 2020 Tour Soft ball from Titleist is a thinner 4CE Grafted Cover – engineered through an ultra-thin TCU process technology which bids to provide golfers more greenside spin for better control into and around the green.

A Spherically-Tiled 342 Cuboctahedron Dimple Design on Titleist’s Tour Soft ball seeks to offer a more penetrating ball flight through all conditions. The new Tour Soft “T” side stamp featured on the new ball has been designed to make it easier for golfers to line up their ball on the green or tee without having to mark lines on the ball.

Speaking on the new Tour Soft ball, Michael Mahoney, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball Marketing, stated

“Golfers wanting to play a softer-feeling ball shouldn’t have to sacrifice yards off the tee or control into the green. We know they have real golf to play and their ball has to be much more than just soft.

The new generation of Tour Soft continues to show what’s possible in a lower compression design. Our engineers have developed a longer, all-around better performing golf ball that maintains the soft and responsive feel that golfers love about this product.”

Also new for 2020, Titleist’s Velocity golf ball has been updated with new aerodynamic and core technologies as well as three new matte color options (Pink, Green and Orange) added.

The 2020 Velocity ball contains a larger and higher speed LSX Core than its predecessor which is designed to deliver fast speed with extremely low spin on full swing shots while adding spin for greater iron control on approach shots.

The new Spherically-Tiled 350 Octahedral Dimple Pattern on Titleist’s Velocity ball for 2020 has been developed in a bid to provide players with a high ball flight with greater aerodynamic consistency for maximum distance.

The latest edition also contains a fast Naz+ cover – designed to offer golfers added speed and greenside feel.

Speaking on the updated 2020 Velocity ball, Mahoney said

“Velocity golfers love distance, and they never stop asking us for more yards. But we know they’re also trying to shoot lower scores, and distance is only one part of that equation. The advancements our engineers have made to Velocity’s aerodynamics package and high-speed core technology are meaningful.

Golfers can take aim from farther away – confident that if they put a good swing on it, they’ll have the extra distance to reach the green with the ball flight to stop it there.”

Both Titleist’s new Tour Soft and Velocity balls are available to purchase in golf shops worldwide beginning Jan. 22. The Tour Soft ball costs $34.99/dozen, while the Velocity ball $27.99/dozen.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
