Wilson Golf signs Kevin Tway to tour staff for 2020
Wilson Golf has announced that Kevin Tway has joined its advisory Tour staff and will make his debut as a Wilson staffer at this week’s Sony Open.
Tway is set to debut the brand’s all-new D7 Forged Irons as well as its V6 irons this week in Hawaii. Additionally, the 31-year-old will be equipped with Wilson’s all-new Staff Model wedges and will use a Wilson Staff Tour Bag on tour for 2020 which will be custom engraved with his name.
Speaking on the new signing, Wilson Golf President, Tim Clarke stated
“We are thrilled to have Kevin join the Wilson team. Kevin’s skill and passion for golf enhance our presence on Tour, and he will help us reach and design equipment for the next generation of golfers. Kevin is a perfect fit for our culture and the team we’re building.”

Tway’s maiden victory on the PGA Tour came at the 2018 Safeway Open where he defeated Brandt Snedeker and Ryan Moore in a three-man playoff. The Oklahoma State alumnus also boasts back-to-back FedEx Cup playoff appearances in recent times.
On his signing with Wilson, Tway said
“I couldn’t be happier to join forces with Wilson. I’m confident that my new equipment will take my game to the next level in 2020 and beyond. I look forward to working closely with Wilson to help develop new products and pave the way for the golfers of the future.”
As an advisory Wilson staff member, Tway will provide insights on and test future Wilson Golf clubs and balls.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.
