Forum Thread of the Day: “Favorite hybrids?”

Published

on

Today’s Forum Thread of the Day comes from craigster who asks GolfWRX members for their favorite hybrids. Looking to replace both his two iron and three iron, craigster receives plenty of recommendations from our members, with a whole host of different hybrids receiving love.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • stevopagolf: “I like the ping G410 flatter lie option helps reduce the hook. Went 19 and 22. I have tried a bunch. Titleist 818 was a close second. Prefer the looks of the Titleist, but I am getting more consistent results with the G410.”
  • SEP1006: “Without a doubt Adams Pro A12’s best ever, still playing them. If you can find any Adams Hybrids in good shape grab them.”
  • favre0811: “Just bought the Ping G410 and it is awesome. I also have a Srixon U65 3 iron that is a straight bullet of the tee but have a hard time getting a higher launch off the ground.”
  • k.ip: “Cobra F7. They sound and feel fantastic.”
  • mizunoMX25: “Can’t go wrong with the H1 from Titleist. Easy to hit high or low, and with the C1 setting they are VERY hard to hook lol. I have mine in B1 and can work a draw or a fade with it. About to buy a 25* to replace my five iron I think.”

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping

Published

on

Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.

That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.

On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”

On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”

“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

Check out Shipley’s full what’s in the bag and the rest of his wedge stampings here on “Inside the Ropes” from Colonial.
