WRX Spotlight: Odyssey EXO 2-Ball putter
Product: Odyssey EXO 2-Ball putter
Pitch: The company united three technologies in one putter — EXO, Stroke Lab, and 2-Ball — to maximize forgiveness and ease of alignment.

Our take on the Odyssey EXO 2-Ball putter
Odyssey brought out the EXO line of putters just about a year ago. The EXO line is the pursuit of ultimate forgiveness. Like the previous EXO putters, the long awaited 2-Ball uses 17-4 Stainless steel on the perimeter and a lightweight 6061 Aluminum center structure. Not only does this design move weight to the outside of the putter, it also moves the CG lower in the club head.

I will start by saying that I have never been a big 2-Ball fan. For whatever reason, the 2-Ball alignment aid has never fit my eye, I tend to be a bigger fan of straight sight lines. To me, the EXO 2-Ball seems to be the best looking 2-Ball Odyssey has produced in its long history. I think it might be the outside structure around the 2 Ball alignment that helps it fit my eye. If you are a 2-Ball fan, then the EXO should be an easy transition into your bag. The darker perimeter structure goes well with the red aluminum and white circles. The EXO 2-Ball also comes with Odyssey’s new Stroke Lab multi-material shaft.

On the green, the EXO 2-Ball really does have the feeling of being extremely stable through the stroke. I have tried a couple different Stroke Lab models, and that tech does help slow my tempo, making me a little more confident on those short breaking putts. The EXO 2 Ball has Odyssey’s White Hot Microhinge insert that was created to offer a very soft feel while promoting better forward roll and less skidding.

The White Hot Microhinge insert is a little soft for my liking. But again, insert sound and feel is very personal, and if you like a little softer feel and sound the White Hot Microhinge will please your senses. I didn’t notice a huge difference in initial roll or skidding, the ball went exactly where I aimed. The EXO 2-Ball is pretty much point and shoot, if you read the line right the ball goes in the hole!
It is a face-balanced putter, and during the stroke this putter almost eliminates twisting of the head. The EXO 2-Ball really shines on mishit accuracy as well. Shots struck on both the heel and toe tracked towards the target, only missing the cup by small amounts. Distance on those mishits did drop more than I anticipated, barely making it to the cup. The feel on those toe and heel hits also has a firmer feel and I think that is a good thing, adding to responsiveness.

Overall the EXO 2-Ball is a very stable and forgiving putter. And on the whole, players looking for something to help with their putting accuracy should really give the EXO line a try.
Odyssey’s EXO 2-Ball will hit retail on March 29, and it’s available for pre-sale on March 15.

Neal Shipley, AKA, the “Big Fridge’s,” custom stamping
Neal Shipley was the first to admit that he enjoyed his food while in college. But since his days at Ohio State, he’s slimmed down and earned a PGA Tour Card.
That hasn’t stopped him from having fun with his wedge stampings, though it’s led to some misunderstandings.
On the 54 (degree), we have ‘Big Fudge,'” Shipley told GolfWRX. “It was supposed to be ‘Big Fridge,’ so this happened a little while ago. ‘Big Fridge’ was a nickname between my college teammates and I, with ‘fridge’ meaning stomach, a big stomach.

“We told the Ping guys to put … ‘Big Fridge’ on it, and I think maybe some bad cell service or something, and they thought I said ‘fudge,’ so they put fudge on it.”
On Shipley’s 50-degree he also continues the food theme, this time with his go-to order at the “Golden Arches,” and his stamping “DONS 7.”
“The number 7 meal, the two cheeseburger meal, that was my McDonald’s order, back when I would have McDonald’s frequently,” Shipley shared.

As a 2-ball user I don’t think this looks very good. It looks like an old lady wearing glasses is staring at me

No matter how much useful tech:
2 ball
hinge face
$200 putter shaft
I doubt this club has much pop success, Like the Edsel this looks too feminine is my guess.

Just curious why it’s ok for putters to have holes all over the place and haven’t seen them in every driver yet?

I like the updated look.
However, I would like to see a thin white line at the top of the face to square the face to the putting line. But overall, this is a very nice look imo.
